Van Zant School 50th Anniversary Ceremony

On October 6, 2018, a 50th anniversary ceremony was held at Van Zant School. It was the same day the school was dedicated in 1968.
Among the speakers was John Kloos, longtime principal at Van Zant.
The high point of the ceremony was the opening of the school's time capsule inside the cornerstone. In this scene the cornerstone is being removed.
Helen Riner, who was the school's first PTA President, read the contents to the audience.
Dr. Jean Ricketts, the first principal at Van Zant, attended the ceremony.
